I see the old bug #321015 which is now closed/invalid.
I also see Bug #329515 about providing commit templates capabilities when using Egit And Mylyn.

Is it just not possible to support the raw commit.template config from git, where a txt file is provided with the template to be used ?
Or in Eclipse Git preferences : a section to enter various generic templates messages (as in SVN eclipse integration for instance)

What is the release cycle of this plugin, or, what Eclipse distribution version we could expect this?
Tested with 2021-12 (egit version 5.13.0), but it is not implemented.

Please have a look at the Target Milestone in the ticket description, which is 6.1
