Description Markus Tiede CLA 2018-12-04 01:54:36 EST
Are there any plans on moving away from sharing information (e.g. links to documents on various mailing lists) via Google-Docs? For us (Baloise) and probably others (behind corporate proxies that block content / domains like these) it‘s not possible accessing these documents / information (at work) at all.

It‘d also be nice having something @eclipse that allows sharing these documents!

This topic has been briefly brought to the cross-platform mailing list [1].

It would be nice if:
 - these documents could / would be hosted on Eclipse Foundation infrastructure (also e.g. for long-term accessibility)
 - they would at some point be transferred to a lightweight (versioned) format, comparable

Is the wiki (either in it's current form, or perhaps replaced with something newer) the right answer?
Comment 3 Markus Tiede CLA 2018-12-07 08:56:34 EST
Yes, the Eclipse Wiki would definitely help! As long as it's hosted @eclipse.org we have no troubles accessing it.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

I'm not quite sure what more needs to be done here.

Some working groups use Google Docs. The Eclipse Foundation does make use of Google Docs, but generally not in the context source project development. Some projects may leverage the technology; there is no general policy encouraging the use. In fact, my strong preference is to discourage the use in the context of open source project development as it represents a barrier for entry for some.

wiki.eclipse.org is available; there are also wiki options on GitLab and GitHub.

Are there specific examples?
