Description Roland Grunberg CLA 2018-11-06 10:59:06 EST
I've proposed to move some older (pre-Oxygen) p2 repositories to archive.eclipse.org, while still maintaing a composite that will redirect existing consumers [1].

Gunnar mentions that archive.eclipse.org may not be able to handle traffic to the same extent as download.eclipse.org [2]. Are there any issues ?

How much extra traffic are we talking about?

A couple of years ago we added some larger machines to handle download, and merged the archive service onto those same hosts. More recently we placed some cache servers in front of both sites, in order to improve performance.

Be aware that our QoS rules favour download so at peak times archive may become less responsive.

I think that's a fine trade-off.

@Roland I'm good with the composite approach with one child on archive.eclipse.org.

Roland, thanks for asking about this before doing it. We appreciate it!

Thanks for the information. I've decided to archive Juno SR1 to Luna SR2 for now and may do more over time.

Feel free to close this bug.
